We moved to South Florida in 1977 from Montreal, Canada. First of all, because of the weather. Secondly, because of the great shopping available. Thirdly, because of the beach and attractions. We used to drive down to Palm Beach, a 3 day trip, every winter to stay in a small apartment with friends for vacation, to enjoy the pool, beach, and weather. When we finally moved down, there were a great deal of other destinations that we discovered, and they became my favorite memories of South Florida.
Do you remember the Serpentarium? It closed in 1984, but we loved visiting that place. You got to pick up a snake, put it around your neck, and take a picture. We also loved going to the Seaquarium with Flipper and the killer whales. Who could forget the golden dome? We took home movies and pictures there that we will cherish forever. Lincoln Road was one of our favorite shopping destinations. So was the Omni, and 163rd Street Mall. Only Lincoln Road still exists, but very different than it was then. The stores and restaurants have changed alot, We loved going to the beach, taking out the boat and fishing, going to picnics, and just enjoying the outdoors as much as possible.
These are great memories that we will always remember!
